Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to find a recipe, buy an e-book or book a class on vegama.dk, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, or a large text size.

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. As a very small business we are not required to do this by the European Accessibility Act, but we choose to follow it anyway.

How we test

  • We check every page with the Siteimprove Accessibility Checker (levels A and AA, plus best practices).
  • We also check things the tool can’t see, such as whether every product and recipe image has a useful text description.

What works

  • A “Skip to content” link on every page, so you can jump past the menu.
  • Clear page structure: one main heading per page and headings in a logical order.
  • Text and buttons with enough colour contrast to read (at least 4.5:1).
  • Text descriptions (alt text) on product and recipe images.
  • A label on the newsletter email field.

What doesn’t work yet

We know about these problems and are working on them:

  • The sign-in and register pop-up uses placeholder text instead of visible labels on its fields.
  • We have not yet tested the whole site with a keyboard only or with a screen reader.
  • Our e-books are PDF files that we have not yet checked for screen readers.

The coloured letters in our logo have low contrast. Logos are an exception in WCAG, but we mention it so you know.

Found a problem?

Tell us, and we’ll help you get what you need in another way while we fix it. Write to us at vegama@easv365.dk and describe the page and what went wrong.
